PACKAGED PITCH |
|
Ice Cube and Mike Epps are the driving
force of this high style, high impact, action/comedy. One's a top dog bounty hunter, the other a two-bit hustler. Add to
the mix a botched diamond heist, a lost wallet with a winning lottery ticket and one thing becomes clear
that it's 'All
About The Benjamins.' |

OUR OPINION |
|
Loud -- very loud -- sleek and flashy take on the mismatched buddy flick
genre, with Ice Cube playing straight man to Mike Epps. The former is an overworked and underpaid bounty hunter who dreams of opening his own PI firm and all he needs is money.
The former is a con man who stumbles onto a diamond smuggling operation. Both see the pot at the end of their respective rainbows, and they're off accompanied by a pretty good hip-hop soundtrack.
Epps is likable, the image and sound quality are exemplary, and the featurettes are interesting -- only one deleted scene is included
though, and the gag reel is barely 2-minutes. But the main problem with surrendering to such a sensory assault are the predictable jokes based on the predictable
personality conflicts between the two leads and Ice Cube's perpetually sour persona. WADE GOSSETT |
