Sequels are usually not as good as the original and "Blade II" is no exception. This sequel seems
to be a series of fight scenes (complete with martial arts movements -- what did filmmakers do before they could have
characters fight with judo chops and thrusts?) strung together on the barest hint of plot and character development.
Wesley Snipes is back glowering as Blade; a human/vampire hybrid bent on killing vampires. This time, he hunts a strain
of vampires born in a lab rather than made via bloodsucking.
While the film is a disappointment, the extras aren't. Enough to warrant their own separate disc, the extras include the
requisite deleted/alternate scenes but with director commentary (always appreciated although not always added), a
collection of documentaries, a reproduction of the director's notes, a video game survival guide and then the standard
art gallery, trailers and music video round out the extras disc. |
