A Matter of Dignity [Wellspring]

Do you know what your children are watching?

By TERESSA ELLIOTT

Many people are familiar with the film "Zorba the Greek," but not as many are familiar with director Michael Cacoyannis' film "A Matter of Dignity." Released in the 1950's, the film details the struggle of a family to retain their upper class status and the daughter, Chloe (Ellie Lambetti), who must decide between money and love.

The film works on a few levels: as a picture postcard of Greece, as a love story and as a suspense film (what will Chloe decide? How will the family react to the tragedy that occurs late in the film?).

The DVD only has one extra -- a filmography and awards section -- and the print is not very clean, but the film itself makes the lack of extras an oversight you can ignore.
