Rosemary & Thyme - Series Three [Acorn]

Do you know what your children are watching?

By ALEXIA ARGYROU

I'm so happy to see our horticulturalist detectives return for a third outing. The continue to share great chemistry, and the gardening theme makes for great TV images since the stories are set in stunning locations, many in Mediterranean countries, regardless of how satisfying the mysteries are.

Talking about the mysteries, plot-wise Rosemary & Thyme stories are trifles. And neither Rosemary Boxer nor Laura Thyme has any incredible detecting skills. But the result is the gardening equivalent of a soufflé: Not a robust excursion, lacking in tension but pleasant nevertheless.

In set three the diverse locales include England's Regents Park, Kew Gardens and a Surrey vineyard, as well as southern Spain's Andalusian village of Mijas. There are 8 episodes that vary in quality, but that bring in more and more elements from the two ladies' past. They are the stars, rather than convoluted plots or prescient detecting. Extra features include location notes, a photo gallery and cast filmographies.
