A cute comedy, "Tadpole" stars Aaron Stanford as Oscar--a privileged New York teen who prefers
"women" over girls his own age. This leads to conflicts of Oedipal proportions as he falls for his stepmom, Eve
(Sigourney Weaver) and has a drunken encounter with Eve's best friend, Diane (Bebe Neuwirth) with his Dad (John Ritter)
not-so-cluelessly in the background.
"Tadpole" has one of the best lines in a film from 2002 -- when Oscar confesses his crush to his buddy, his friend
reminds him that the woman is "...married. To your father." The performances are great and the lines funny, although the
film remains a short diversion at 78 minutes.
The extras are sparse too -- a commentary by the director -- but that is in keeping with the bare bones aspect of the
film. |
